Audi topped the time charts again, as Tom Kristensen took his R18 ultra to the quickest time of the day Friday at a dry but overcast Silverstone circuit.

The eight-time Le Mans winner turned a 1:45.645 lap time in the 90-minute Free Practice 2, edging out the sister No. 1 Audi R18 e-tron quattro of Benoit Treluyer by 0.214 seconds.

While it was an Audi 1-2 as expected, Strakka Racing wound up a surprise third, thanks to a late charge by Danny Watts, who reeled off a 1:46.994 in his HPD ARX-03a.

Watts outran the No. 7 Toyota TS030 Hybrid of Alex Wurz, Nicolas Lapierre and Kazuki Nakajima, which battled electrical issues during the second practice.

Lapierre's 1:46.010 lap time set during the first session, however, stood as the third quickest overall of the day.

The pair of Rebellion Racing Lola B12/60 Toyotas wound up fifth and sixth quickest overall and in LMP1.

LMP2 was led by Nic Minassian, who put the Jota Sport Zytek Z11SN Nissan out front with a 1:50.759 lap time.

The ex-Peugeot ace, brought in this weekend to bolster the Spa-winning team's chances of its second class win of the year, was 0.442 seconds quicker than the No. 35 OAK Racing Morgan-Nissan of Dominik Kraihamer, who wound up second quickest in the session and on the day.

Pecom Racing's Pierre Kaffer made it three different chassis manufacturers in the top-three in class with a 1:51.291 lap time aboard his Oreca 03 Nissan.

After rebounding from engine-related issues in the morning, the No. 44 Starworks Motorsport HPD ARX-03b of Stephane Sarrazin posted the ninth quickest time in class in the afternoon.

AF Corse continued to lead the way in GTE-Pro, with the No. 51 Ferrari F458 Italia of Giancarlo Fisichella improving to a 2:02.121 lap time. It was only 0.067 seconds quicker than the No. 77 Team Felbermayr-Proton Porsche 911 GT3 RSR of Richard Lietz, who was second quickest.

GTE-Am was again led by the AF Waltrip Ferrari of Marco Cioci, who improved more than one second from his pace-setting morning lap to a new best time of 2:02.918.

A final 60-minute practice is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, followed by qualifying beginning at 2:50 p.m. local time.
