LE MANS: McNish Quickest In Practice 3 At Silverstone

Audi showed the way again in practice, as FIA WEC teams prepare for qualifying for Sunday's Six Hours of Silverstone.
Allan McNish jumped to the top of the time sheets in Free Practice 3, turning a 1:43.628 lap time, the quickest of the weekend thus far.
The Scot, piloting the No. 2 Audi R18 ultra with Tom Kristensen, was a considerable 1.254 seconds faster than Audi's e-tron quattro of Benoit Treluyer, Andre Lotterer and Marcel Fassler in second.
The No. 7 Toyota TS030 Hybrid of Nicolas Lapierre was third quickest with a 1:45.492 lap time, but suffered a run-in with the No. 71 AF Corse Ferrari in the closing stages of the 60-minute session, damaging the Toyota's rear wing.
McNish also had a collision with Olivier Beretta's Ferrari earlier in the session.
For the first time this weekend, Rebellion Racing was quickest of the LMP1 privateers in fourth overall.
LMP2 saw Greaves Motorsport's Alex Brundle post the quickest time of the session. The second-generation racee, driving with his father Martin and Playstation GT Academy winner Lucas Ordonez this weekend, reeled off a 1:49.524 lap time in his Zytek Z11SN Nissan.
Brundle was more than one-second clear of the No. 35 OAK Racing Morgan-Nissan of Dominik Kraihamer, Bertrand Baguette and David Heinemeier Hansson in second.
The No. 51 AF Corse Ferrari F458 Italia of Gianmaria Bruni threw down a 2:01.937 lap time late in the session to go quickest in GTE-Pro, while GTE-Am was led by the Beechdean Motorsport-crewed Aston Martin Racing Vantage V8.
Qualifying gets underway at 2:50 p.m. local.
