Audi led the way Friday morning as teams continue to battle extreme heat in Bahrain.

The No. 2 Audi R18 e-tron quattro of Allan McNish was quickest with a 1:47.639 lap time. McNish outpaced teammate Andre Lotterer in the identical No. 1 Audi by 0.320 seconds.

Toyota wound up third quickest with a 1:48.392, while the No. 12 Rebellion Racing Lola B12/60 Toyota was fourth best and the top privateer LMP1 car.

LMP2 was paced by the No. 24 OAK Racing Morgan-Nissan of Olivier Pla, who reeled off a 1:53.249 lap time.

Starworks Motorsport's HPD ARX-03b was second quickest in the hands of Stephane Sarrazin, with the No. 32 Lotus Lola B12/80 Lotus completing the top-three in class.

Aston Martin Racing topped GTE-Pro for the second consecutive practice, thanks to a 2:01.401 lap time by Stefan Mucke late in the 60-minute session, while Fernando Rees led the way for Larbre Competition in GTE-Am.

The only red flag during the hour-long session came for the No. 29 Gulf Racing Middle East Lola B12/80 Nissan of Jean-Denis Deletraz, who stopped near the wall on the back straightaway.

Qualifying is on tap for 4 p.m. local time.
