Jota Sport has strengthened its driver lineup for next weekend's Six Hours of Silverstone, the fourth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship.

The British squad announced Wednesday the addition of Nic Minassian, who will join team regulars Sam Hancock and Simon Dolan in their LMP2-class Zytek Z11SN Nissan.

While not entered for the full-season global championship, Jota took top LMP2 honors in the Six Hours of Spa in May and were also committed to a full-season European Le Mans Series program prior to the cancellation of the remaining European rounds this year.

"Running just Sam and Simon we were finding our choices for race strategy restricted by the rules regarding maximum driving time, so we decided to take a serious look at available third drivers," Managing Director Sam Hignett explained. "We're really lucky to have someone of Nic's caliber joining us."

Minassian, a former Peugeot factory driver, contested the previous two FIA WEC rounds in Pescarolo Team's Dome S102.5 Judd, while having also driven for Sebastien Loeb Racing in the ELMS.

"We've seen from their win at Spa how competitive the team is, and Sam and Simon were battling hard for the lead in the most recent race at Donington," Minassian said. "This is just a one-off deal for now, but they're a very ambitious organization with a great facility and a bright future, so it's nice to be forming a relationship."

The addition of Minassian puts Jota as one of the favorites for class victory in LMP2, which sees a stack field of 16 entries for the British round.

With Jota not opting to make the trip to Petit Le Mans for the ELMS finale, the team's program beyond Silverstone remains unclear.
