LE MANS: Shanghai Confirmed As WEC Finale

While the entry lists for the 24 Hours of Le Mans and FIA World Endurance Championship took center stage Thursday, the ACO also confirmed the venue for the final round of this year's global championship.
Shanghai International Circuit will play host to the WEC season finale on Oct. 25-27, just two weeks after the Six Hours of Mt. Fuji in Japan and one week following the Petit Le Mans, which will close out the American Le Mans Series season.
Organizers had been in negotiations between the state-of-the-art F1 facility and Zhuhai International Circuit, which had hosted the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup rounds for the past two seasons. When announced last year, the original calendar had the yet-to-be-determined Chinese race scheduled for either Nov. 11 or 18, with the date having now been moved into a busy month of October for the sports car world.
Located on the outskirts of Shanghai, the 3.387-mile, $450 million facility, designed by Hermann Tilke, opened in 2004 and is home to the Formula One Chinese Grand Prix.
