LE MANS: Toyota Quickest In Opening Practice At Fuji

Toyota led the way in opening practice at Fuji Speedway, as FIA WEC teams prepare for Sunday's six-hour enduro.

Kaz Nakajima topped the time charts in the overcast 90-minute session, turning a best lap of 1:28.809 in his No. 7 Toyota TS030 Hybrid.

The Japanese star, wound up 0.419 seconds quicker than the best of the Audis, that being the No. 1 Audi R18 e-tron quattro of Benoit Treluyer, who clocked a 1:29.228 lap time.

Allan McNish was third overall in his identical Audi hybrid, while the No. 21 Strakka Racing HPD ARX-03a of Danny Watts was quickest of the LMP1 privateers in fourth.

LMP2 saw Signatech Nissan go quickest, thanks to a 1:33.525 lap time by Nelson Panciatici. The Frenchman was 0.130 seconds quicker than the No. 25 ADR-Delta Oreca 03 Nissan of John Martin, who wound up second.

The No. 24 OAK Racing Morgan-Nissan of Olivier Pla completed the top-three in class.

Team Felbermayr-Proton's Marc Lieb and the No. 50 Larbre Competition Corvette C6.R of Pedro Lamy led GTE-Pro and GTE-Am, respectively.

No major incidents were reported during the session.

Friday's second and final Free Practice is on tap for 3:30 p.m. local.
