The highly anticipated unveiling of Toyota's new factory LMP1 hybrid will come next month, according to the ACO. Lemans.org reports that the Japanese manufacturer will test its new gasoline-electric contender at Paul Ricard on Jan. 24-27, which will include an official presentation.

Few technical details have been revealed about Toyota Motorsport GmbH's new prototype, which will enter select rounds of next year's FIA World Endurance Championship, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

It's believed the closed-top prototype will entrust an evolution of TMG's 3.4-liter V8 engine used by Rebellion Racing in this year's Intercontinental Le Mans Cup and Le Mans Series programs, while adding a battery-based hybrid system to the all-new in-house chassis design.

Two-time Le Mans winner Alex Wurz, French ace Nicolas Lapierre and Toyota protege Kaz Nakajima were confirmed last month as the first three drivers for the factory campaign, which could see only a single-car development effort in 2012.

TMG, based in Cologne, Germany, will work in partnership with famed French squad, ORECA, which will support the effort from an operational standpoint to field Toyota's first factory entry at Le Mans in more than a decade.

The test scheduled for late January indicates that a car could be ready for the WEC season-opening Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in March, but it's believed a debut at the Six Hours of Spa two months later is a more realistic target.

Toyota will go head-to-head with Audi and Peugeot in what will become a three-horse factory battle in next year's inaugural WEC season.
