Fresh off a top-10 finish in Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Brian Vickers gears up for his third FIA World Endurance Championship race of the season, more than 7,000 miles away in Bahrain.

Vickers will rejoin MWR co-owner Rob Kauffman and Portuguese driver Rui Aguas at the wheel of the No. 61 AF Waltrip Ferrari F458 Italia for the championship’s first trip to the Middle East in Saturday’s Six Hours of Bahrain.

"It will be a lot of fun to race in Bahrain,” Vickers told SPEED.com. “We had a great weekend in NASCAR up in New Hampshire and hope to have another this weekend with Rob and Rui. I’ve seen those guys a few times, but we haven't run together since Le Mans.”

In Vickers' 24-hour debut, the trio combined for a sixth place finish in the GTE-Am class at Le Mans in June, the last outing for the American-led lineup in the FIA WEC.

Since then, the team, run by multiple-time GT champions AF Corse, had seen a variety of different driving squads in the No. 61 Ferrari, including an all-Brazilian lineup in Sao Paulo as well AF regulars Matt Griffin, Marco Cioci and Piergiuseppe Perazzini, who took top class honors last month at Silverstone.

The recent string of podium finishes has helped propel AF Waltrip to third place in the GTE-Am Teams’ Championship, with three rounds still to go.

“The AF Corse team has run very well in the last few weeks, so its great to be able to get in a car that’s run by a top notch organization,” Vickers added. “The cars are just a blast to drive.

“The last time I was in Bahrain was for the Formula 1 race [earlier this year], so it will be great to go back to that circuit again and actually drive it this time!”

AF Corse, meanwhile, can lock up the GTE-Pro Teams’ Championship with its fourth consecutive class win this weekend, in what’s been a dominant stretch of success for the Amato Ferrari-led organization.
