After months of anticipation and buildup, the Automobile Club de l’Ouest unveiled the list of selected entries for the 80th Le Mans 24 Hours and the FIA World Endurance Championship Thursday.

Featuring 30 cars for the new global sports car championship, which kicks off at the Twelve Hours of Sebring in March and 56 starters for the twice-around-the-clock classic, both lists are packed with former winners and champions from the world of endurance racing.

Audi and newcomers Toyota headline the entries, with the German manufacturer set to run four Audi R18s at Le Mans, two of them being hybrids. The Nos. 1 and 2 cars, nominated with drivers Andre Lotterer and Allan McNish, will also compete in the eight-round WEC.

Following Peugeot's shock withdrawal last month, Toyota has stepped up to become a full-season entrant in the WEC with one of its new Toyota TS030 hybrids. The Japanese manufacturer, however, will miss the opening round at Sebring and will instead debut at the Six Hours of Spa in May.

Additionally, a second Toyota prototype has been entered for Le Mans.

“The circumstances for the championship changed suddenly in the last weeks and Toyota Racing considers it important to work together with the FIA and ACO to establish a successful future for endurance racing,” said Yoshiaki Kinoshita, team president. “We have done everything we can to show our support and we look forward to an exciting season, including the opportunity to race two cars at Le Mans.”

This development ensures a Manufacturers' World Championship in LMP1, as regulations state that at least two automakers must be registered.

Other entries in LMP1 for the WEC include a two-car Lola-Toyota effort for Rebellion Racing, a single OAK Racing Pescarolo-Judd and French favorites Pescarolo Team, which has entered a new Pescarolo 03 chassis, based off the Aston Martin AMR-One from last year.

Strakka Racing and JRM will fly the colors for Honda Performance Development, with its new HPD ARX-03a.

A strong field of nine entries will take part in LMP2, including Americans Starworks Motorsport, which will field a HPD ARX-03b for Ryan Dalziel and Enzo Potolicchio. Other U.S. interests comes from Greaves Motorsport with the ALMS driver lineup of Elton Julian, Ricardo Gonzalez and Christian Zugel.

GTE-Pro features a slim five-car field, partially due to the withdrawal of BMW from international endurance racing competition. Two AF Corse Ferrari F458 Italias, along with a single Aston Martin Racing Vantage and Team Felbermayr-Proton Porsche will be likely battling for top honors.

The GTE-Am class, however, features a healthy seven-car field, including a mix of Ferraris, Porsches, Corvettes and an Aston Martin. Of note, Georgia-based Krohn Racing is entered with its 2011-spec Ferrari F458 Italia.

In addition to the LMP1 Manufacturers' World Championship, which will be contested between Audi and Toyota, automakers Chevrolet, Ferrari and Porsche will fight for top honors in the GTE Manufacturers' World Cup.
