In case you missed Wind Tunnel on Sunday night, here's some things that are going to happen, some things that might happen and some things that should happen.
*** Andretti Green Racing is going A1 Grand Prix racing in 2009. The team is taking over Team USA’s A1GP program and expect Marco Andretti and Danica Patrick to do the driving since it's during the off-season for IndyCar.
*** Dan Wheldon is NOT out at Target/Ganassi Racing. When Tony Kanaan turned Chip Ganassi down, it appeared Wheldon's tenure was over, regardless. But word is that Chip has reconsidered saying goodbye to the 2005 Indy and IRL champion and there's a good chance Daniel will remain teammates with Scott Dixon.
*** Indy Racing League officials are wisely adopting Firestone 's optional tires for its street circuits and road courses in 2009. The softer tires with red stripes turned some otherwise forgettable Champ Car street races into passing derbies.
*** AGR will not field an ALMS car in
*** The IRL's finalists for a title sponsor? We hear it's Subway and Citi Financial. In 1978, CitiCorp became USAC's title sponsor for the national championship.
*** Tony George says all the TV naysayers need to know that Comcast (which owns Versus) wants to make the IRL's new partner a player in the sports scene.
*** Jonathan Bomarito is handsome, articulate, quick and leading the Atlantic championship but he was nowhere to go unless he hits the lottery. Ditto for other young, talented American racers like Jonathan Summerton, J.R. Hildebrand, Carl Skerlong and Dane Cameron.
*** AGR may become AS Racing because Michael Andretti and Kevin Savoree are reportedly in the process of buying out partner Kim Green, whose older brother Barry started this team in its original form in 1998 with KOOL money.
