The plain-spoken guy from the Midwest is the undisputed king of the Northwest.

Tim Wilkerson, who calls Springfield, Ill., home, won the Funny Car class at the O'Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Northwest Nationals for the third straight time on Sunday.

"I've got a good handle on this place," Wilkerson said. "I have a good running car at sea level. I do a lot of research on crew chiefs and where they perform well. I'm always good a sea level, I don't know why.

"I race crew chiefs. I be any better than I am as a driver on the finish line."

Other winners at Pacific Raceways were Del Worsham in Top Fuel and Jason Line in Pro Stock.

Wilkerson piloted the Levi, Ray and Shoup Ford Mustang around Jack Beckman's Aaron's Dodge Charger to collect his first win of the year.

"The car has really come around," Wilkerson said. "It really couldn't have come at a better time with as dismal as the beginning of our season was. Hopefully we can continue this roll and take it to Brainerd and Indy."

Wilkerson ran a 4.146 second pass at 300.53 mph in the final to nose out Beckman who went across in 4.598 seconds at 238.64 mph.

Worsham picked up his sixth victory of the season in the Al-Anabi Racing dragster and once again prevented Tony Schumacher and the U.S. Army dragster from winning its first race of 2011, his longest winless stretch since 2001.

"I'm new to Top Fuel, so everyone I'm racing is new to me," Worsham said. "I've raced John Force and Cruz Pedregon for 20 years. To go up against somebody like Tony is a lot of fun, it's something new."

Despite leaving second, Worsham had the power to cross the line in 3.891 seconds at 316.38 mph, which was good enough to beat Schumacher's 3.915 at 313.95 mph lap. Schumacher also became the first driver to reach the finals of all three Western Swing races and not walk away with at least one victory.

"I really want to lock up the No. 1 position in the Countdown," Worsham said. "It's not sealed up by any means, but we put a little bit of a gap there."

Jason Line won the battle of the Summit Racing Pontiacs when he defeated teammate and boss, Greg Anderson in the final round.

"There are a lot of days where I go in feeling really good," Line said. "The car was awesome this weekend. I felt like if I could not screw it up, I'd be the last man standing.

"I'll probably be job hunting tomorrow, but whatever, today was a great day."

Line ran a 6.553 second pass at 210.87 mph which was enough to nose out Anderson, who finished in 6.567 seconds at 211.13 mph.

Next on the NHRA Full Throttle Series Schedule is the Aug. 18-21 Lucas Oil Nationals in Brainerd, Minn.
