Over 20,000 People Attend McRae’s Service of Celebration
Written by: Kevin Krefting
Lanark, Scotland

Official crowd estimates indicate that over 20,000 rally enthusiasts attended the outdoor Service of Celebration in Lanark, Scotland yesterday (Sunday, September 30th) for the lives of Colin McRae, his son Johnny and their two friends who died in the recent helicopter crash.

The 90-minute service was relayed from inside St. Nicholas Church where 750 family members, friends and guests filled the church to capacity.

Among those attending the service were David Richards,
Ari Vatanen, Marcus Gronholm and Didier Auriol.

Speaking on behalf of the McRae family, Alister McRae said:

"It's been a very difficult time, not just for us, but for both the other families as well. To have received as much support as we have through the website, cards and flowers, is overwhelming and pretty amazing."

"Colin will be remembered for what he was; an extremely gifted driver, a great person and a good friend to a lot of people."
