Can all the speculation about Chevy's possible return to open-wheel racing be written off as nothing more than a bunch of wild rumors that made their way into a blog? (LAT)
BEWARE: A Few Facts and Lots of Rampant Speculation Ahead.

After eight hours of calls on the topic since Sunday, I’ve come across a lot of rumors, conspiracy theories and possibly the truth about General Motor's interest in returning to open-wheel racing.

For the sake of documenting the wide range of results my conversations have returned, I'm proud (more like slightly amused) to present the full gamut of speculation I've come across.

Grab a Sharpie, snuggle up to the screen and circle what you believe to be the correct answers to the questions below:

9) True or False: The 2012 IndyCar engine information leaked to De Lorenzo was nothing more than a “test balloon” flown by GM to gauge public interest.

10) True or False: GM will announce a twin-turbo V6 Cadillac engine rather than a Chevy engine of the same architecture, with its capacity altered as needed to be used in open-wheel and sports car racing.

11) True or False: Roger Penske organized the meeting between GM and the Series as a part of a bigger plan to revive his beloved Detroit Grand Prix IndyCar race.

12) True or False: FIAT, through their Ferrari brand, is closer to building a 2012 IndyCar engine than GM.

13) True or False: A wealthy former open-wheel entrant will announce his return to Indy car racing on the same day and at the same time as the Chevy press conference.

30) True or False: The real answer as to whether GM is returning to IndyCar racing is hidden within all of the salacious speculation you've just finished reading.

As for the answers to the 30 questions...you'll find out in a few hours.

Or on Friday.

Or possibly on Monday.

Or maybe not at all...
