Rotax Max Challenge Grand Nationals Preview
Written by: RACER Staff   http://www.racer.com
Palm Springs, Calif.

The phones and fax machines are buzzing in the offices of SSC Racing in Palm Springs, California. The reason? The U.S. Rotax Grand Nationals are almost here.

With a high number of entries being processed daily through the online registration system, it is clear that this year’s Rotax Grand Nationals is going to be a big one. Not only are there likely to be more competitors at this year’s event than any other, but with a full slate of off-track activities planned – including movie nights, paintball tournaments, and at-the-track parties.

Additionally, RaceFanRadio.com will be broadcasting live from the event, with special guest hosts Rob Howden and David Cole from ekartingnews.com.

Adding to the event will be the help of Rotax Max Challenge presenting sponsor, Mazda USA. As with last season, Mazda is bringing a wealth of support to the event, in addition to serving as the sponsor of Americas Team, which will compete at the Rotax Grand Finals in La Conca, Italy. Americas Team presented by Mazda will consist of the top three in Rotax Junior, Rotax International, DD-2, and the winner of Rotax Masters.

“We always get excited before the Grand Nationals, but there seems to be a little more buzz about them this year,” said Joe Ramos, president of SSC Racing. “I’m very happy that this year’s Grand Nationals is at USA International
Raceway. I’ve had the opportunity to visit many tracks around the country, and I can say that USAIR is one of the best. The feedback we’ve gotten from drivers who have driven the track is that it is one of the toughest and most challenging they have come across. We think it will be a fitting place to have the Grand Nationals.”

Mazda will also be working hard to promote the event through their extensive dealer network, to drive spectators to watch some of the best kart racing in the country – and, hopefully, some of those spectators will soon be heading to local kart shops to purchase their own Rotax kart.

“Mazda has been the best partner we could hope to have for the Rotax Max Challenge,” said Ramos. “They have taken an active roll in supporting the Grand Nationals and are working with us to make the event better and better. We are proud that they are a part of the Rotax Max Challenge for the second year.”

Last year, over two hundred racers competed in five classes at the Rotax Grand Nationals. This year, MicroMax will be in an exhibition class, bringing the number of classes to six. SSC Racing will also have MicroMax karts available for rent that will be transported to USA international Raceway.
