SPEED TV Shoot Set for Atlanta Dragway Offers Many Atlanta Ties

SPEED’s national television show PINKS All Out will travel throughout the country in 2008, shooting in places like San Antonio, Norwalk, Ohio, Englishtown, N.J. and Sonoma, Calif. But no other venue is as important to one of the show’s stars, Adam Pritchett, more than Atlanta Dragway, as it’s his hometown track.

PINKS All Out presented by NAPA is the network’s top-rated lifestyle show with more than 2.5 million viewers per week, and will be shooting at Atlanta Dragway on Saturday, May 10. The episode is a part of season two and will premiere in August on SPEED.

Pritchett, who’s lived in Atlanta for 10 years now, is a long-time ATR-72 flight instructor for Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA) (Delta Connections regional service provider) and works with his brother Nate Pritchett as one of the show’s lead technical advisors.

“I train new pilots in the simulator, ground school and in the airplane, for them to get signed off to go out and fly,” said Pritchett, who resides off Interstate 285 near the Smyrna/Mapleton area just 20 minutes from downtown Atlanta. “I also fly with them sometimes too. I also do a lot of the current flight training that pilots are required to do every six months or so.

“Atlanta is a great town,” Pritchett added. “I have a lot of friends that live in the mid-town area, which has excellent nightlife. Downtown is fun as well with the World of Coke, there’s all kinds of great things to do – especially with the racing we have here at Atlanta Dragway, Atlanta Motor Speedway and Road Atlanta. Not to mention all the great grassroots racing in the area. We offer something for every taste, racing wise.”

The show itself, hosted by creator and executive producer Rich Christensen, invites 450 local drag racers to compete for a $10,000 prize and a new NAPA tool chest. The Pritchett brothers are tasked with putting together the PINKS All Out 16 fields,
which are selected by finding the closest grouping of cars based upon elapsed time.

“I’m really excited about PINKS All Out coming to my hometown,” Pritchett noted. “When we started this thing, I had always wanted this show to come to this area. We’re going to have a great crowd. One of the things I’m excited about is meeting everyone within the Atlanta and local drag racing community. With our race team located up in the Northeast, all the racing I do is in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern parts of the country. I haven’t had the time to spend with the local Atlanta guys, so I’m really looking forward to meeting them.”

And what does Pritchett think about the local racers that will be showing up?

“I think we’re going to have a pretty quick field,” Pritchett continued. “Quite a few guys from some of the Web forums and things, from what I’ve seen, plan on bringing out some really fast cars, especially with Nate doing his ‘Quick 8’ race now. I also think Nate and I will really have a good mix of cars and categories to choose from. It should be great.”

Atlanta Dragway is located just off Interstate 85, north of Atlanta. The PINKS All Out shoot is open to the public, and more information can be found at www.atlantadragway.com or www.SPEEDtv.com.
