A brother-sister team consisting of J.C. and Kristy Kester will compete under the Kester Racing banner in the 2008 Star Mazda championship, likely a first in professional U.S. racing.
Jeff (J.C.) Kester, 21, drove in the Formula Enterprise series last year, racking up seven wins and two poles. His sister Kristy, 19, raced karts for six years and also drove F-Enterprise in ’07, posting three poles and two wins.
“I can’t wait to compete in this series where there are so many young talented drivers,” Kristy stated. “However, my brother is always my biggest competitor.”
“Kristy is a racer; she sleeps, eats, and breathes racing and I see her as somebody who is always willing to learn and be the best at what she does,” said Davy Jones, the 24 Hours of Le Mans and 24 Hours of Daytona-winning driver who also serves as the driving coach for Kester Racing.
“J.C. is a talented, aggressive driver, who uses his knowledge of engineering to apply it to his racing. There’s no doubt in my mind that J.C. will quickly rise to be one of the top drivers in the Star Mazda Series.”
