Traditionally, series sponsorship comes at the beginning of each racing campaign, but 2008 has been slightly different for the Snap-on Stars of Karting presented by IndyCar Series. As divisional championships have been concluded and the National Finals are just around the corner, series officials are please to announce that all championship winners in each class will be awarded championship rings.
While many of today's stick and ball sports receive trophies and other awards, Stars of Karting champions will receive rings in the same fashion as the Super Bowl champion New York Giants did earlier in the year. The one of a kind championship rings will be purchased and awarded to divisional champions by Phil De La O, father of Western division Junior Intercontinental A (JICA) champion Phil De La O Jr.
“Phil really stepped up to the plate and is doing
something extra special for all the 2008 champions,” explained series President Paul Zalud. “This just shows the kind of people that we have participating in our series and what a close knit family we are.”
Zalud went on to add, “Everyone at the series would like to thank Phil for his gracious awards that are being give to our Series champions.”
Rings will be supplied to divisional championship winners at the Snap-on Stars of Karting Presented by IndyCar Series banquet held Friday, October 10. The banquet will be held at the Blackjack Club on the grounds of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway with the Formula BMW Happy Hour beginning at 7:00pm and dinner at 8:00pm. With the top five in each class of both the East and West divisions receiving awards, attendance will be mandatory for these participants.
