PROGRAMMING NOTE: Round 4 of the 2013 Monster Energy Western Regional 250SX Class Championship from Oakland will air on SPEED on Sunday, January 27th at 5:00pm ET.

The first race was held on January 18, 1979, and Jimmy Weinert won on a Kawasaki
This will be the sixth time the gate will drop in Oakland for a 450SX Class race
In 1980, Kent Howerton won on a Suzuki
In 1984, Ron Lechein won a Honda; it was his first race aboard a Honda
In 1979, Jimmy Weinert used a paddle tire to win on the all sand track in Oakland; the AMA would later outlaw the use of the paddle tire. He also won the last 450SX Class race of his career that year in Daytona.
James Stewart has won two-in-a-row in Oakland with his 2011 and 2012 wins; the two-time Monster Energy Supercross Champion has yet to earn a win this season
Stewart’s win last year in Oakland broke a five-race winless streak
Chad Reed earned the 117th podium of his career and his 126th top five in Oakland last year
Villopoto earned his 28th career podium finish with a third in Oakland
Reed, Villopoto, and Ryan Dungey are the only three racers to be in the top five after Oakland

The top four finishers in last year’s Main Event in Oakland were former 450SX Class Champions, Stewart, Reed, Dungey and Villopoto, respectively; this was the first time in the sport’s history that this has happened.

Jake Weimer earned his second top five of the season
Ryan Dungey has finished in the top-10 at every race this season, joining Millsaps, Canard, Weimer, Reed and Andrew Short
For the first time in his career, Stewart has finished outside of the top five for four straight races.
For the 10th time in 40 seasons, three different riders have won the first three races. Last season there was four different winners to start the season.
