Greenfield, Ind.
Part-time USAC driver Cameron Dodson is in critical condition at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, where he is being treated for injuries sustained in a passenger car crash near his home in Greenfield, Ind.
The accident happened early Wednesday along a rural road in Hancock County. Authorities told The Daily Reporter in Greenfield that Dodson was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from his car when it went off the road into a ditch.
A hospital spokesman did not disclose the nature of Dodson’s injuries.
Dodson, 20, drives for a Silver Crown team owned by NASCAR star Carl Edwards, competing mostly on pavement races. Dodson, the 2007 Silver Crown rookie of the year, made four starts this season, winning at Iowa Speedway in August. He also had runner-up finishes at Richmond International Raceway in June and at Phoenix International Raceway two weeks ago.
“On behalf of the Dodson family and everyone who has the pleasure of working with Cameron, we would like to thank the local and motorsports communities for their immediate care and concern,” said Michelle Petroff in a statement on Dodson’s web site.
Petroff is from the agency that represents Dodson, who competed with the All-Star Circuit of Champions in 2005 and won the Mid American Sprint Car Series championship as a rookie in 2004.
Dodson has also dabbled in stock cars and made four starts in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2006, posting a best finish of 24th at New Hampshire Speedway.
