The old guard of USAC would appear to be the favorites heading into the 25th edition of Indiana Sprint Week, which begins Friday night in Gas City, Ind.

Jon Stanbrough, the 44-year-old short track star from Danville, Ind., sits atop the USAC sprint car standings going into the 7-race series on Indiana dirt tracks during the next two weeks.

Levi Jones, the 5-time USAC sprint king who is trying to make it four in a row, trails Stanbrough by 26 points after 13 events in 2012.

And Dave Darland, the 45-year-old veteran in his 25th season of USAC racing, ranks third in the points as he seeks a fifth ISW title.

Darland owns the most ISW victories (15), one better than Stanbrough, and is trying to join Kevin Thomas with his fourth ISW crown – as is Jones.

Damion Gardner, Hunter Schuerenberg and Bryan Clauson all have a pair of sprint wins in 2012 and they’re entered along with Tracy Hines and last year’s ISW champ, Chris Windom.

After the opener at Gas City, USAC stops at Kokomo Speedway on Saturday night and Lawrenceburg on Sunday evening. The series resumes on Wednesday at Terre Haute before consecutive shows at Putnamville (Thursday), Bloomington (Friday) and Haubstadt (Saturday).
