Andretti Autosport will send its second driver to compete on the streets of Surfers Paradise this October as GoDaddy-sponsored James Hinchcliffe will join the talented Garry Rogers Motorsports team for the third annual Gold Coast 600 event.

The 25-year-old Canadian, who uses Chevrolet power in the IZOD IndyCar Series, will pilot one of GRM's GM-based Holden Commodores during the October 19-21 event and told SPEED.com he can't wait to sample the 650 hp tin top machines.

"For me, it's a dream come true," said Hinchcliffe, who will battle with teammate Marco Andretti who's set to drive for Kelly Racing in the V8 invitational.

"I've always wanted to get behind [the wheel of] one of those cars. I've watched the racing for years on TV and they're just so bad ass. The races are awesome and the drivers are great."

Hinchcliffe will have big shoes to fill at GRM at the GC600.

Porsche factory driver Patrick Long was a last-minute signing for the team during the original event in 2010, and stormed to a podium finish, as did Hinchcliffe's fellow IndyCar driver Simon Pagenaud, who placed GRM on the Gold Coast podium last year.

With a third consecutive podium in sight, Hinchcliffe said he doesn't want to break the tradition.

"You don't want to be the guy that breaks the streak, right?" he said with a laugh. "This team has had a phenomenal run of success at this race with international drivers coming in and you don't want to be the guy who doesn't hold up his end of the bargain."

With his IndyCar sponsor involved in the event, Hinchcliffe also has added incentive to perform.

"It's a cool partnership with GoDaddy coming on board as well," he said. "We'd like to get that car back up on the podium, for sure."
