Kraig Kinser, released three weeks ago from his ride at Tony Stewart Racing, is proving that you can go home again.

The third-generation driver and 2005 Knoxville Nationals winner will return to the family fold to run for his legendary father in the Steve Kinser Racing number-11k full-time in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series in 2010.

The news comes on the same day it was announced that Steve Kinser will replace son Kraig at Tony Stewart Racing.

“I'm very excited to be back in the family-owned car,” said the 25-year old driver in a statement.

“I've had some success while running for my dad and am confident that 2010 will be a great year for us,” he added.

Kraig Kinser, winless in 2009, has been to victory lane nine times on the Outlaws circuit since his rookie season in 2004.

However, Kraig pursued a stock-car career which took him to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and ARCA RE/MAX Series, where he won in his 2005 series debut at Michigan International Speedway.

He returned to his dirt-track roots in 2008 driving for TSR, but raced in the shadow of his teammate, reigning four-time champion Donny Schatz.

With the SKR operation, Kraig will be working with rookie crew chief Mike Kuemper in addition to Kraig’s sister Stevie.

“It’s definitely not a team full of veterans, but with the experience of the guys in the shop, not to mention my dad, we are just going to go out, have fun and try to win some races along the way,” said Kraig.

The 11k will be a Maxim powered by Gerkin-Kinser Racing Engines.

SKR is searching for a primary sponsor for the team, which has secured associate sponsorship from Quaker State and Mesilla Valley Transportation.
