WRC: Subaru Plans Four-Car ’09 Assault

Manufacturer Two team to join Prodrive’s effort.

Prodrive boss David Richards has revealed that Subaru will add a second works effort for the 2009 World Rally Championship.

The new operation will have Manufacturer Two statues (semi-official) and will join Richards’ own Prodrive effort.

"We'll run a new team next year," Richards confirmed. "We will get the car right this season and next year we can hit the season hard right from the start with four cars sharing the same parts and systems."

Drivers remain unnamed for the new outfit: "We would like a British driver, but I don't know who that could be," Richards continued. "Beyond Britain, I don't know who's out there.”

Subaru will debut an all-new Impreza WRC on the next round of the 2008 season, the Acropolis Rally in Greece.
