Citroen's Sebastien Loeb took a dominant win in the Tour de Corse on France's Corsica island, finishing over 23 seconds ahead of championship points leader Marcus Gronholm to take his third straight victory in his home event. Dani Sordo in the second works Citroen completed the podium.
The result put Loeb just four points behind Gronholm's Ford with three events to go this season, in Japan (gravel), Italy (tarmac) and Britain (gravel).
"For me, I couldn't do better than to win," Loeb said. "After that it doesn't depend on me. I cannot do more. I'm happy about this result and it's two points less in the gap in the championship."
Gronholm, seldom a match for Loeb on the asphalt, was pleased with minimizing the damage to his lead.
