Don’t be surprised to see more foreign-born drivers in Nascar Soon!

I know its not happening yet, but it's coming. Nascar used to be for wash out of other series racers coming to restart careers, but now its younger, and when racing careers slow off else where, they gravitate toward Nascar. Don't be surprised to see Euros and others in Nascar. Maybe even as soon as a couple of years. Down in South America, Stock Car racing is growing in popularity, and there was talk of hosting a race there. Anyhow, I could see drivers from other series like F1, sports cars, and others attempting Nascar. The recent testing of cars by Jarno Truli and Mika Salo, shows that Nascar is accepted by other racing pedigrees, but stil Nascar in its current form is the worst form of racing on the map.

The unofficial driver standings and an exciting championship

I was looking around at the unofficial driver standings on Nascar's website (I find it odd that they keep track of the "what if" points) and wondered how many fans would be rooting for Johnson if the chase wasn't in effect: Johnson is only 80 points behind Stewart after Martinsville and rallying. Stewart, having dominated early in the season is trying to hang on to his lead with only a few races to go (It reminds me a lot of the recently decided F1 championship. Fans were adamant in cheering for the 3rd place Vettel or the 2nd place Barrichello to overtake the increasingly lackluster Button).

Ironic, isn't it, that the very Chase which Jimmie Johnson does so well is robbing him of the excitement of his charge to the front and alienating him from the fans?

Brian France fights to keep case quiet

"NASCAR chairman Brian France is trying to keep his legal troubles secret – and Mecklenburg courts have so far granted him an extraordinary level of privacy.

France filed a civil complaint against his ex-wife. Lawyers persuaded Mecklenburg Judge Todd Owens to seal the court file from public inspection, an unusual move in a court system that typically allows widespread access to courtrooms and documents.

On Friday, France's attorneys petitioned a Mecklenburg judge to bar the public from the courtroom as arguments in the case unfold. It's unclear exactly what the dispute involves, but the matter is being heard in family court and apparently involves domestic issues."

This is how John Edwards got so much traction a few years ago with his "two Americas" speech (a bit hypocritical on his part, since he was part of that "other" America, but that's another forum ). Good luck to anyone else trying to get all the details of a civil suit like this sealed.

"It's not unusual for judges to seal some documents, such as sensitive records involving mental health and financial holdings. But court experts say it's extremely rare that an entire file, including a judge's order sealing it, is kept from the public."
