JOOOONYER!
Number 1 with a bullet ... or a wallet, I'm not sure which.
I think it's funny that The Shrub is on this list. I thought he was very unpopular ... maybe people buy his stuff and throw paint at it.

I'm surprised Tony is that high on the list considering he announced he was switching teams.

Are candy sales included?
Good point, I hadn't thought of that. Junior tops the list again ... I wonder whether or not Nicole's purchases put him over the top?

One thing I found interesting and another I found...asinine?
Earnhardt accounted for close to 40 percent or more of all sales in 2008
I figured he'd be number one, but not by that much.
MA also plans to expand its offerings of the “Digger” merchandise representing the graphical gopher on Fox’s broadcasts.
WHY?!

I wonder how much longer he will remain on top without a good year under his belt?
One good year can add years to his merch popularity so Lets go Jr show em how it's done this year!

That doesn't surprise me at all. And I think it proves something that we don't normally consider when looking at NASCAR's recent decline the past few years.
We always talk about the COT, the Chase, tickets prices, boring tracks, poor TV coverage... and all that over and over. But what few consider is that when the far and away the #1 most popular driver on the circuit goes from winning 15 races over his first five seasons, to winning a total of just three in the past four years, that hurts NASCAR big time. Then you add in what were #2 and #3, Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart winning a combined one race this past year, it makes things even worse. Between Junior, Jeff, and Tony, that's the majority of NASCAR's fanbase rooting for guys who won 2 of 36 races.

It wasn't me, lol. I spent all my money this year on Star Wars crap.

I just got me a boss looking custom-made Obi-Wan Kenobi from Attack of the Clones figurine. Cost me $70 and was worth every penny.
Wait, no, I think I bought NASCAR gear this year...at some point, maybe, lol. I did buy a Dale Jr. shirt and a few die-casts.
See Dale Jr's thing is that he's got two primary sponsors this year. So, now, us Dale Jr. fans have to buy two of everything! We gotta buy the National Guard stuff and the Amp stuff. I ended up buying two of his primary schemes as die-casts because I wanted the Amp scheme and the National Guard scheme. That's over $120 spent right there. It's very annoying to say the least. I told myself this year that if I was gonna buy Dale Jr gear, it'd be Amp.
Being a Dale Jr. fan is expensive.

Just My Two, but these numbers were from the nascar.com store. i would challenge those numbers overall. Jr has always been about 35% of the business. Gordon about 25, Then tony somewhere close. but for people like Kyle, the article said he was up 610% i think. what that doesn't factor is if he sold $100 the year before... well thats still not alot. and i don't believe that JJ's sales are as big as they have said either.but
i know JR gave MA a 1st quarter up, but i think it all stopped there.
