If they figure that their losses from pulling out of NASCAR will be less than the $250 million they're spending on advertising then they'll be gone.

This would be breaking news if it had been true... except it's only been mentioned in past tense buried at the bottom of an unknown blog.

This idiot essentially re-reported the Car & Driver April Fool's Day story as fact a half-year later.

This could very well happen one day, but it hasn't yet.

This is joke right?

If it isn't Ford isn't safe, they'll be forced out too.

Infact no racing safe

They are probably hiring an anti-racing czar now

excuse me, I'm going to vomit

Obama stated his support for NASCAR fairly unequivocally when NASCAR went to the Whitehouse.

Oh that makes me feel better, surely he wouldn't renege.

Uhhh re-read what I wrote. That's why I asked if this was a joke. If this was true and GM was forced out, Ford would be forced out racing as well, even though they, Ford, didn't take buyout money. I don't think the gubment would shut down racing because of the money spent, they would shut it down because it doesn't fit their green, 'climate change' agenda.
I read the news Cale, I'm fully aware of who and who didn't sell their souls.

i see what you did there

to repeat what someone else said:

this is a story on the MSN Money Central Blog. It lists no source to the info nor does it identify the "news reports" he is referring to. dont you think this board would already be talking about this topic if there were actual news reports about it? unless he took the april fools joke to be true.

heres something to calm some of you down

right.. but how does the US government close down racing as a whole? Chebby is in their pocket now.. not the other way around, as it had been for so many years. Chebby is the only one that could (if this were even remotely true) be forced by the feds to get out of racing.

the story is ridiculous beyond words.
