If it were true, Doug Yates' guys would be pulling all nighters supplying the "converts"...

You can't fault them for asking how effective that $250 million is, advertising-wise...
Well like I said when this all began. I think pulling out of racing would actually do more harm than good. There are still quite a few race fans who do buy based upon racing sponsorship. If they cut and ran from nascar or other racing I actually think it would just add to their problem of dwindling car sales. Obviously win on sunday sell on monday is nothing like it was in the 60s 70s and 80s but Im just guessing that manufacturers still get a hefty bit of their sales from auto racing advertisement

This is a joke right? I don't know anyone who buys a Chevy Impala or a Toyota Camry because of NASCAR. Hell, 99.99% of the folks I know don't even know what model the Chevy is supposed to be.

I'm one, all the vehicles my family ever got has been Chevys. My parents just brought two new Chevys. When I get my vehicle, it will be a Chevy. My family even surports sponsors that join Chevy racing teams in Nascar. Anything Nascar related that I get has a Chevy logo on it somewhere in my collection. All the drivers I pull for are Chevy drivers.

I remember that "April Fools" post about Obama forcing Chevy/Dodge out....and remember it being immediately proven false. Forgot which mag/blog author posted it.

....but why would Jayski/MSN/etc. post about this topic if it were once false?

Interesting stuff. ISC doesn't look good right now, either.

But that article's title is quite misleading. IndyCar might be getting more engine manufacturers by 2012. Also they just struck a deal with IZOD as a title sponsor.

The money the Government spent on both the bailouts and Cash For Clunkers should have been tied together. If they stipulated that you had to spend your 'clunker cash' on Dodge or GM, those companies may have had enough windfall to recuperate.

I repeat again, this was an incorrect tidbit that came from a clueless financial blogger who recycled an old April's Fools Joke as the truth... because he's an idiot. That's all this is.

I don't know why Jayski re-printed it, and quite frankly, don't care.

Instead, Honda, Toyota and Hyundai were the top three C4C beneficiaries. When I first heard that, I was beyond a bit miffed.

$125M of stimulus money went to NASCAR and race tracks so there are politicians in DC fighting for racing. The Cash For Clunkers was just pissing away $3B because people just traded in their old cars for new gas guzzlers or foreign models.
